Thankful.

I’m so thankful for many things, but I thought I would take the time tonight, after eating a FABULOUS meal (including my first time eating deep fried turkey, which was the best turkey EVER), to just highlight some of those things I am thankful for.

  • Bill. I am so very thankful for him every day of the week, I can’t even put into words how much. He has made me a better person just by allowing me to be me. He makes my heart happy and I can’t wait to see him every day when he comes home from work. I feel so very blessed to have married my best friend. I love that we both strive to have a drama-free life, and how we always seem to work out our issues without too many hurt feelings (or at least, not hurt for very long). I am thankful he goes to work every day so that I can be a stay-at-home mama. I could never thank him enough for that. He is an amazing father to our children and I love him more and more each and every day.
  • Olivia Dawn, with her curly brown hair, lovely dimples and sweet birthmark on her temple, she is my (usually) calm and laid back child. She stands back from the situation and assesses everything before jumping in. She is cautious, but kind, and once you are her friend she will remember everything about you and anything you have done together. She has a quick wit, and gives the BEST hugs. Her love of learning makes me proud, but her kind heart makes me prouder.
  • Sophia Madeline, with the impish grin and laughing eyes, you can’t NOT smile when you see her smile, it is just infectious. She loves to make you laugh and is a cuddle bug. I love the way she rubs my back with her fingertips as I hold her in my arms, or the way she laughs hysterically when trying to deflect when she is upset or she is nervous. She is independent and loves to “do it herself”, she can be a bit dramatic at times too, but ultimately she is the sweetest little girl with a kind nature.
  • My extended family. Sure, they can be knuckleheads, but they are MY knuckleheads, and I wouldn’t trade any of them for anything. I have an amazing set of in-laws that I consider my family and are as close as any of my blood relatives are to me. I love them all and love that my children have so many amazing people that love them so very much.
  • My friends. I have a lot of awesome friends in my life that I am grateful for. Some of you drift in and out of my life and we don’t talk as much as we used to, but I still hold every single one of you in my heart and you know I would be there for you in a heartbeat if you needed me.
  • Relatively good health all around me. While Bill’s grandfather is fighting cancer, I am so thankful that he has been pretty successful in his fight thus far and everyone else is in (relatively) good health. I honestly thank the heavens daily for my children’s health. That means more to me than money or anything else in this world.
  • My house, while small, I am thankful that it is a home. The photos on the wall show happiness and joy. I can tell a dramatic decrease in stress since moving here and I have had people comment that when they enter my house it feels calm and stress-free and just…happy. I feel that too.
  • I have knowledge and the resources to find out anything I want to know. I am so very thankful for that.
  • I am thankful for my life. THIS life. It wasn’t what I grew up thinking I would have, nor was it where I dreamed I would be at this point in my life, but I can’t imagine my life could be any better in any way. I can’t imagine living the life I had dreamed of, as this one is SO much better. I don’t care how cheesy and hokey it sounds. I LOVE life. The good and the bad. All of the choices I have made, all of the hardships that have occurred throughout my life, I wouldn’t give a single one of them up if it meant my life was any different than what it is now.

Hope you all have a great weekend. I plan on hunkering down, catching up on TV and the only shopping I will even consider doing is the online kind. Happy Thanksgiving!
